Manutan wins the Sustainable Innovation Strategies in Logistics award
On October 3rd, during the renowned sustainable logistics event “Eco Class Logistics,” the Manutan Group received the Sustainable Innovation Strategies in Logistics Award in the “Shippers” category. This recognition highlights our commitment to actively contributing to a more responsible model through the launch of our Circular Hub.
Addressing a Dual Challenge
Pierre-Emmanuel Saint-Esprit, Manutan Group’s Circular Economy Director, explains the origins of this project: “Each year, businesses and local authorities in France generate 250,000 tonnes of furniture waste. And 93% of office furniture is not reused. Much of this furniture, often still in good condition, could be reconditioned and find a second life in a company, a school, or even administrative offices.”
This approach also responds to the needs of our clients, both private and public organisations, who must comply with growing regulations in this area (AGEC law in France and the “right to repair” directive within the European Union).
A Bold and Pioneering Project
In June, we inaugurated our very first Circular Hub dedicated to the reuse of office furniture. This 3,000-square-metre space can currently store and repurpose over a thousand items, including desks, chairs, office seats, tables, cabinets, lockers, and pedestals. Offered on our websites, these second-hand products are up to 30% cheaper than new items, without compromising on quality.
This makes us the first company in the sector to offer an integrated collection and refurbishment service as part of our business, enabling office equipment to be reintroduced to the market. Our long-term ambition is to expand this service to all our European subsidiaries and across various product categories.
This award celebrates the dedication, commitment, and energy of our entire team, as well as the indispensable support from our partners and the trust of our clients who choose to embrace reuse when equipping their businesses.
Through our Circular Hub, we reaffirm our commitment to guiding our entire ecosystem towards a circular economy. Congratulations to the other winners of this year’s edition, who have highlighted sustainable logistics and innovation through increasingly inspiring initiatives.
