Over two years after joining FRET21, Manutan reduces its CO₂ emissions by 9.4% and exceeds its targets
In March 2022, Manutan joined the FRET21* initiative with the ambition to reduce its CO₂ emissions related to transport by 7% over three years, surpassing the programme's minimum reference commitment of 5%. Two years later, Manutan announces that it has not only achieved but also exceeded this target by reducing its CO₂ emissions by 9.4%.
Manutan, a European leader in B2B e-commerce specialising in the distribution of equipment and supplies to businesses, places the reduction of its carbon footprint at the heart of its priorities. By joining the FRET21 programme in March 2022—an initiative encouraging companies to integrate the impact of transport into their sustainable development strategies—Manutan has successfully reduced its CO₂ emissions by 265 tonnes in France within just two years. This result exceeds the initial goal of a 7% reduction in transport-related emissions by 2025.
This achievement is the result of several strategic actions:
- Partnerships with committed transport providers: Manutan systematically integrates CSR criteria into the selection of its transport providers, aiming, in cases of supplier replacement, for the new provider to emit less CO₂ than its predecessor. The company has launched a partnership with MAZET, whose fleet is 50% powered by rapeseed oil. Currently, 50% of the vehicles operating from its site use renewable energy, with a target of reaching 100% by the end of 2025.
- Optimising load efficiency: Manutan’s teams work continuously to maximise delivery efficiency by reducing trips and optimising transported volumes. This includes sending small items in envelopes, using a dedicated B+ machine to adapt parcel sizes to products, and improving truck loading arrangements.
Gabriel Tellier, Group Transport Director at Manutan, states:
"We are proud to have reduced our transport-related carbon emissions by more than 9% in just two years as part of our commitment to FRET21. This achievement results from close collaboration with our transport providers and our ongoing efforts to improve delivery efficiency. We remain fully committed and determined to continue reducing emissions in the coming years."
