80% Reuse: Kruizinga’s Bold Bet for Its Future Headquarters
Kruizinga, the Dutch subsidiary of the Manutan Group, is placing the Circular Economy at the heart of its new headquarters project in Wapenveld. As a long-time advocate of more sustainable business models—whether through its range of second-hand products or equipment rental options—the online distributor of storage and transport solutions is now taking things a step further. Its teams are preparing to move into a building constructed almost entirely from reused materials.
For its future headquarters, Kruizinga has embraced circularity with an innovative approach. Instead of demolishing old buildings, the idea is to dismantle them into reusable "blocks", which can then be used in new construction projects. This technique significantly reduces the environmental impact of new buildings.
This ambitious challenge is being expertly executed by our partners, Lagemaat B.V. and Mensink Bouwbedrijf. Today, 80% of the materials used come from pre-existing structures. Joost Puttenstein, project manager at Lagemaat, explains: "The floor slabs come from Amsterdam. The roof panels are from Ede. […] The window frames and interior walls also arrived from Amsterdam. That’s how the puzzle comes together."
After eight months of construction, the teams are eager to move into their new workplace—especially as they were actively involved in designing the space, selecting furniture, and defining the technical structures.
With this project, we continue to place the circular economy at the core of our development. This is how we strive to build a better world.
