Chase: the Chair Reborn through the Circular Economy

7 November 2025

At Manutan, we’re committed to leading our entire ecosystem towards a circular economy. That’s why we’ve created our Circular Hub in France, a place where we give used furniture a new lease of life before putting it back on the market at a lower cost. To bring this vision to life, we invite you to discover Chase, the forgotten chair that’s been given a second chance. Through this short film, we tell an inspiring and tangible story that celebrates reuse and encourages everyone to see pre-owned furniture in a whole new light.

A Story of Transformation

In the film, Chase tells its own story, from being left behind after a meeting to finding a new home in another company. This journey takes us behind the scenes of our Circular Hub in Le Bourget, located in a priority urban area and supported by the Île-de-France region.

The film highlights the key stages of refurbishment: every item is inspected, repaired, and cleaned by our teams before being resold or donated to charities. The refurbishment of office chairs is independently verified by FCBA, a leading technological institute in the furniture industry, ensuring the quality and rigour of our process.

Through this video, we showcase our furniture collection and refurbishment service, along with our growing range of second-hand products. At its heart lies a message we deeply believe in: used furniture can still be useful, beautiful, and full of meaning.

Reuse: an Alternative with Multiple Benefits

Refurbished furniture represents a powerful balance between environmental, economic, and social goals. We’re convinced it’s a practical and effective way to build a more sustainable future.

First and foremost, extending a product’s lifespan helps reduce waste, resource consumption and carbon emissions. For example, a single order of refurbished products from Manutan saves an average of 995 kg of CO₂ per year, equivalent to a return flight from Paris to New York.

Our refurbished range also offers a smart economic alternative without compromising on quality. Each item is up to 30% cheaper than new, yet comes with a three-year guarantee, proof that making responsible, reliable choices doesn’t have to cost more.

Finally, we’ve officially launched a new employment integration initiative within our Circular Hub, in partnership with ARES, a social enterprise promoting economic inclusion, and Valdelia, a non-profit eco-organisation accredited by the French Ministry for Ecological Transition. This partnership helps create local value and fosters social inclusion.

Through this film, we invite all organisations to rethink their relationship with furniture. Behind every chair, every desk, and every shelf lies a story waiting to be told. As Chase reminds us: “No object is ever truly at the end of its life : it just needs a second chance.”
