Manutan Environmental Impact Score: Supporting More Responsible Choices

27 May 2025

Driven by our ambition to enterprise for a better World, the Manutan Group launched its product environmental impact score at the end of 2023. Based on a recognised methodological framework, this rating system provides information on the environmental footprint of products throughout their life cycle, going beyond carbon impact alone.

A Recognised Method

The environmental footprint measurement, carried out by our partner Glimpact, is based on the Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) methodology developed by the European Commission. This approach analyses the entire life cycle of a product, taking into account 16 environmental indicators including carbon footprint, resource use, water pollution, human toxicity, and more. The result is a rating system from A to E that helps customers make informed purchasing decisions by comparing products within the same Manutan category.

A Tool Serving the Entire Manutan Value Chain

This environmental impact score is a powerful lever for developing a better business.

  • For our customers: it facilitates responsible purchasing by enabling them to compare the environmental impact of products within the Manutan range, thus allowing them to make informed choices aligned with their responsible procurement policies.
  • For our suppliers: it supports the reduction of the environmental impact of their products by providing access to practical and operational eco-design tools, while also highlighting their eco-design efforts.

A Strong Commitment to Transparency

The A to E rating system ensures clear, easily readable, and understandable communication. At the same time, to guarantee the independence and objectivity of our approach, we rely on the expertise of Glimpact, our trusted partner. Additionally, documentary audits are conducted on product data from a sample of suppliers involved in the initiative. These suppliers also commit to publishing the score obtained for each relevant product, regardless of the result. This transparency requirement enhances the reliability of the information provided and helps build trust with all our stakeholders.

New References Added

Today, more than 33,000 product references display this environmental impact score, available across the 17 websites of our Enterprise Division subsidiaries*. This applies to a wide range of product families: office furniture, chairs and seating, cabinets, lockers, boards and displays, workshop furniture, waste management, storage bins, office and industrial shelving…

Our ambition by 2028: to cover our entire range, i.e. more than 850,000 references, and to announce the upcoming category currently in progress: PPE and signage.

By rolling out this score, we reaffirm our commitment to sustainably transforming the professional distribution sector and guiding our customers and suppliers towards more responsible choices, in support of a more sustainable model.
