Manutan Group brings suppliers on board in its decarbonisation journey
The Manutan Group, Europe’s leading B2B e-commerce company, has set itself the ambition of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. To reach this goal, we aim to engage our entire value chain and lead it towards zero environmental impact. This year marks an important milestone with the rollout of our supplier decarbonisation strategy, driven by a dedicated team. It is an ambitious initiative that lays the foundations for a long-term, collective transformation.
Supplier decarbonisation as a strategic priority
As a distributor, 99% of our greenhouse gas emissions come from Scope 3, primarily linked to the products we purchase and sell. Our suppliers therefore play a central role in our climate roadmap.
With this in mind, we have defined a clear strategy and an ambitious plan through to 2030, fully aligned with our climate commitments validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). One of our key objectives is to engage suppliers representing 70% of our carbon emissions in a science-aligned carbon reduction pathway.
To kick-start this transformation, we carried out a large-scale carbon maturity assessment across our supplier ecosystem. More than 1,000 questionnaires were distributed to gather key data on suppliers’ practices, commitments and the actions they have already implemented to support decarbonisation efforts. At the same time, we are committed to engaging and supporting them throughout this journey over the coming years.
The first step: engaging our top 20 suppliers
This year, we are focusing our efforts on our highest-emitting partners. These 20 suppliers alone account for more than 23% of the emissions linked to product manufacturing.
Together with these partners, we are implementing a collaborative approach aimed at:
- Accurately measuring their carbon footprint
- Setting reduction targets aligned with SBTi standards
- Developing concrete action plans with long-term monitoring and follow-up
This pilot programme enables us to establish a robust methodology, identify the resources required, and build a framework that will gradually be rolled out across our entire supplier portfolio.
By deploying a structured strategy, prioritising our key impact levers, and strengthening dialogue with our partners, we are giving new momentum to our net zero ambition. This long-term initiative reflects our wider commitment: to actively contribute to a better planet.
