Claire Gleave joined Findel, a leading supplier of educational resources in the UK, 11 years ago. Today, she is thriving in her role as Head of Communications. She reflects on her journey…
What has your journey at Findel been like?
I started out at Findel as Executive Assistant to the CEO and Executive team. I then progressed to a role as Executive Support Manager and over time, I gradually expanded my responsibilities by getting involved in internal communication and engagement activites.
As the company grew, the need to structure and centralise communication became increasingly important. When the opportunity arose, I naturally stepped into the role. That’s how I became Head of Communications and of the Findel Foundation.
What are your current responsibilities?
I oversee both strategic internal and external communications for Findel corporate brand. This includes organising communication updates, content creation, managing Findel social media, and updating our corporate website and blogs. I work closely with our HR and marketing teams, as well as our PR agency.
Since launching in November 2022, I’m also responsible for the Findel Foundation including managing all the activities, from charitable donations and volunteering to partnerships with large organisations across the UK.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Without a doubt: the variety! No two days are ever the same. I’m someone who likes to be creative and I enjoy the variety of responsibilities.
I also really enjoy being a point of contact for my colleagues – engaging with them, sharing information, organising social events… I’ve always enjoyed bridging the gap between company strategy and how it’s brought to life on a daily basis. It’s incredibly rewarding to see teams engaged, involved, and feeling a real sense of belonging.
What are you particularly proud of?
I’m very proud to have helped launch the Findel Foundation in 2022. It was a first for us, and since then, we’ve supported thousands of children across the UK.
It’s a project that truly reflects our values and one that means a lot to me. It gives real meaning and a sense of purpose to my work – giving back to the community, supporting education, and making a difference to children’s lives.
What advice would you give to one of our future talents?
I’d say: don’t be afraid to ask questions, and be proactive! If you work hard and are passionate about what you do, you’ll succeed. At Findel, we really value commitment, initiative, and a drive to make things happen.
Claire’s journey is a great example of the opportunities available at Findel: an environment where you can grow, thrive, and contribute to meaningful projects every day. Want to be part of the journey? Check out our current vacancies
