A few months ago, Jerry Fakam joined the Manutan Group as Operations Manager of our Circular Hub in France, an ambitious project dedicated to developing a second-hand product offering for both private and public sector organisations. He shares with us his career path, daily work, and long-term vision.
What’s your background?
The circular economy has been the common thread throughout my career. I’m very familiar with the refurbished market, I’ve explored many of its facets and am fascinated by its incredible potential. My motto? To give useful second lives to objects in order to build a sustainable future in a world where resources are not infinite.
I joined the Manutan Group driven by the desire to contribute to a meaningful project. When I arrived, I found a strong foundation: great infrastructure, a close-knit team, and a clear vision. The challenge was simple : to structure and scale this activity.
What are your responsibilities today?
I have two main missions:
-
To design and structure a sustainable refurbishment activity: contribute to the roadmap, identify priorities, find the right partners, and implement effective processes.
-
To provide our customers with reliable refurbished products by setting high standards that ensure compliance and support relevant certifications.
What do you enjoy most about your daily work?
It’s the small everyday wins that keep the whole team motivated! Being able to reupholster chairs or repaint lockers and pedestal units means we’re refurbishing more... and better! These are tangible steps forward that show real progress.
And most of all, it’s about people. Seeing the team getting involved, learning, and developing new skills, that’s what makes the difference and what I’m particularly proud of. The team’s commitment is paying off: we’ve just passed the 1,000-orders mark!
What’s next for the Circular Hub?
The next big step is scaling up. That means strengthening processes, formalising standards, improving team training, and obtaining certifications. This will likely pave the way for new types of products.
Ultimately, our ambition is clear: to make our Circular Hub a benchmark for refurbishment. That’s how we want to drive our whole ecosystem towards a sustainable transition.
