The OXFAM trek: challenge accepted!
Last May, Manutan employees supported a charity challenge by helping their colleague, Charlotte Duriez, raise funds for a race to end poverty. Through the M'link app, a collaborative, internal co-optation tool, they raised an impressive amount...
Manutan was keen to help Charlotte take part in the Oxfam Trailwalker challenge, as it wanted to support a challenge that was both physically demanding and for a good cause. The challenge: walk 100 km non-stop in under 30 hours, in a team of 4!
To take part in this charity event, Charlotte had to raise at least €1,500 in donations. Employees could participate by donating points earned through the M'link application. Each point donated represented 1 euro which Manutan donated to Oxfam France.
Charlotte reflects on her experience: "The start was certainly a challenge, but we were surrounded by beautiful scenery, the sea and sunshine. By the time we finished it wasn't quite like that. It rained a lot and our shoes, clothes and bags were completely drenched. But it doesn't matter, we did it, with lots of energy and in good spirits! In the end, we came 27th out of 307 teams that took part. We left at 9.15am on Saturday and arrived on Sunday at 9.25am, so just over 24 hours, including 19 hours of actual walking.”
Great results
- Manutan employees raised €650 for Oxfam France
- The charity event raised more than €545,000 in total, a record amount raised for one challenge
Supporting employees to raise funds for good causes is also part of the “Entrepreneurship for a Better World” approach.
