The Manutan group promotes internal mobility across its European branches

27 April 2021

Since employee development and talent management is at the heart of Manutan group activities, internal mobility is deeply rooted in its DNA. Two employees, Filipe Mendes and Lorenz Houzé, have recently had this experience, thanks to opportunities for inter-branch mobility.

Filipe Mendes, from marketing manager for the Iberian zone to Group delivery marketing manager "I joined Manutan Portugal as a sales assistant in 2009. A few years later, I had the opportunity to join the marketing department, then to become a manager and strengthen the team to develop our business on the Portuguese and Spanish markets. After a while, I wanted to enhance my theoretical knowledge with a university degree in management and marketing. After three intense years, I achieved my degree.

Shortly afterwards, I was offered this new job as Group marketing delivery manager, which I accepted with great enthusiasm. I still live in Portugal but I work in an international context, with a Franco-Dutch team. It’s a new professional challenge with team management and remote projects as well as strong collaboration with the subsidiaries to implement a customer-focused strategy on a Group scale.

I’m very grateful for the trust Manutan has always placed in me to progress. There aren’t many companies that offer transfers like this, especially in a decentralised mode."

Lorenz Houzé, from project manager to marketing manager for the Iberian zone "My previous roles showed me the extent to which sales and marketing problems are similar. Right around the time when working internationally and in marketing began to attract me more and more, I was offered Filipe’s job.

I accepted because I wanted to take on some new challenges: moving to a new country, a new role, managing a multilingual team… The opportunity was too good to refuse! My priorities are to immerse myself in the processes and analyse the actions under way in order to build a roadmap adapted to the pandemic situation. I have planned customer visits, telephone conversations, and after that, to learn to speak Portuguese and Spanish.

Since my arrival, I’ve been taking stock of the Manutan culture: the teams are welcoming, committed, and supportive. Working in a company that promotes professional mobility in a multicultural environment is a real opportunity."
