Manutan continues the rollout of its environmental product impact score.
Driven by its commitment to making the world a better place, the Manutan Group launched its environmental product impact score last September. Following a successful initial pilot phase, the European leader in BtoB e-commerce is now focused on implementing this approach across its entire product range in collaboration with its suppliers.
A virtuous approach for all
The environmental impact score allows the measurement and display of environmental impacts (including CO2) of products using standardized and quantified methodology.
Through this initiative, the aim is to meet the growing market demand for sustainable solutions while assisting all stakeholders in their specific environmental challenges. This is a crucial step to support customers in their responsible purchasing strategy and guide suppliers towards eco-design.
Suppliers can assess the environmental impact of their products using an effective tool provided by our partner Glimpact and a methodology compliant with upcoming regulations (CSRD directive, directive on environmental claims, digital product passport, etc.).
While all incoming information remains strictly confidential, suppliers are free to share some of the results obtained with all their business partners—a fantastic way for them to position themselves as agents of change, meet customer demands, and strengthen our partnership.
Phase 2: Office furniture.
Last fall, we engaged nearly 70 suppliers to implement this approach across all our "office furniture" categories (tables, chairs, cabinets, and shelves). In the coming weeks, thousands of product sheets will gradually feature this environmental impact score on the Manutan France, Belgium, Netherlands, and Italy websites, and from February, on all subsidiaries. The ambition within three years is to cover our entire range, totaling 700,000 products.
Jean-Christophe Gac, Group Director of Purchasing & Sourcing, remarks, "Since the project's launch, we've seen strong support from our suppliers. We are particularly pleased with the participation rate and the quality of the shared data. It's an ambitious project, an investment in the future, and our partners have understood this well."
We are proud to have our suppliers by our side in developing such a distinctive tool. It is by joining forces that we can make this project shine throughout the market!
