Manutan continues its Commitment to FRET21

30 October 2024

The Manutan Group is dedicated to contributing to a more sustainable planet by mobilising its value chain and supporting it towards net zero. In this effort, our French subsidiaries have all gradually committed to FRET21. This programme encourages companies to better integrate the impact of transport into their sustainable development strategy, setting a specific methodology and clear requirements.

Through this initiative, led by the Ministry of Ecology in partnership with ADEME, hundreds of member companies are committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions related to transport activities by at least 5% over 3 years.

Following the steps of Manutan France, Casal Sport, and Manutan Collectivités, Papeteries Pichon is the latest French subsidiary in the Group to commit to FRET21. Our school supplies specialist subsidiary is setting the bar high with a target of -22% in CO2 emissions! To meet this ambitious goal, the subsidiary will focus on optimising its loading rates, responsible purchasing, and transport methods.

Today, all our French subsidiaries are actively engaged in this voluntary initiative, which is fully aligned with our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy. Although the focus is on inter-subsidiary synergies, each entity has its own targets, timelines, and action plans.

The first results are already promising. In just two years, Manutan France and Casal Sport have already achieved their carbon reduction targets, while Manutan Collectivités is on track to do the same.

Our Progress in a Few Figures:

  • Manutan Collectivités begins its first year with a -3.4% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions (vs. target of -5% by 2026).
  • Manutan France records a -9.4% decrease over the last two years (vs. target of -7% by 2025).
  • Casal Sport surpasses expectations with a -20% reduction in two years (vs. target of -8% by 2025).

We are more convinced than ever that this commitment will play a key role in our ambition to achieve net zero by 2050, in line with the Paris Agreement’s requirements. Beyond environmental impact, this approach allows us to advance even further in customer satisfaction, delivery times, and operational efficiency.
