Better World Challenge: Empowering change, one action at a time
Each year, the Manutan Group dedicates an entire month to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Among the numerous initiatives launched this year, the Better World Challenge at Manutan France brought together over 70 participants for a 15-day journey of everyday eco-friendly actions. The goal? To reduce carbon footprint while supporting a charitable cause.
A month of meaningful momentum
At Manutan group, we believe that small steps can lead to lasting impact. Our CSR Month is designed to raise awareness around the causes that matter most to us and above all, to empower every employee with simple, concrete ways to take action, at their own level, for a better society and a better planet.
During the 15 days of the Better World Challenge, participants were invited to complete simple, eco-friendly actions each day via a mobile app. These actions spanned five key areas of daily life: transport, digital use, energy, waste, and food. Each completed action earned points, later converted into a donation to a charity, transforming every individual effort into a powerful collective impact.
Nisrene Haddad, Group CSR Director, adds:
"At Manutan, philanthropy means giving everyone the means to succeed, thrive, and live with dignity. Through our actions, we aim to make business a force for good. This involves providing immediate support, but also pursuing a long-term ambition: to embed generosity and social impact deep into our culture, becoming a model of responsible business where lasting, positive change can be felt by all."
A standout effort
Together, participants completed more than 2,000 actions averaging around 30 actions per person! This impressive level of engagement translated into measurable, real-world results:
- 328 kg of CO₂ saved, the equivalent of 74 return journeys between Paris and Marseille by high-speed train
- 5,250 litres of water conserved, roughly one month's water usage for a single person
- 105 kWh of electricity saved, enough to power a washing machine for a whole year
To thank them for their efforts, the winning team had the honour of choosing which charity would receive a €1,000 donation from the Manutan Group. They selected Coup de Pouce, a charity committed to promoting equal opportunities from early childhood.
This challenge was much more than a game: it enabled everyone to get involved in their daily lives, at their own pace, and adopt new eco-friendly habits. Together, we proved that collective impact starts with simple actions. This is how, at Manutan Group, we build a better world.
